The WHY behind Handmade Recovery Cards
Crafting handmade greeting cards is my tranquil oasis. Creating handmade recovery cards, is my passion. Each stroke, fold, and embellishment is a form of meditation for me, momentarily silencing the noise of the outside world. More than just paper and ink, all of my handmade recovery cards embody hope, support, and the promise of better days ahead.
My good friend Rebecca helped me understand the profound impact of receiving a snail-mail greeting card. A few years ago, Rebecca made the decision to enroll in a rigorous nursing program, which meant that she had to spend many nights away from her family. To support her efforts, I sent her a handmade greeting card every week to remind her that she was never alone.
As I pondered Rebecca’s experience, the recovery slogan “You are not alone” came to mind. I recognized my love of creating handmade cards and my deep passion about addiction recovery, so I established Handmade Recovery Cards in 2022. The tenets of recovery go beyond addiction. Recovery teaches us how to navigate the unpredictable waves of life. In recovery language, we learn how to live life on life’s terms. Everyone can relate to recovery slogans, which is why I want to share the language of recovery.
